Mbappe shuns a huge contract at PSG to join Real Madrid
It been weeks since Mbappe 🇫🇷 announced his intention to part ways with the club in 2024, but no concrete development has taken place since.
The long-awaited transfer appeared to be reached last month, with Real Madrid even willing to offer over €150 million for his immediate incorporation. However, the player insisted on seeing out his contract and accumulating the promised salary for next season.
However, there is a rumour that the Parisiens is open to offering Mbappe a huge contract. The said proposal would see him extend for two to three seasons but with a commitment to sell him in the summer of 2024.
According to reports from Rodrigo Faez, "the Frenchman has refused to sign any renewal with PSG. He wishes to move to Real Madrid this summer and is now hoping to reach an agreement with his club so that a move to Los Blancos can pick up pace".
This comes as a massive relief to both parties involved, for it solves all the roadblocks in his transfer saga.
From PSG’s perspective, they will be able to finally recoup money from his departure and no longer risk losing him on a free transfer. As to whether he would be willing to let go of the bonus he is owed next year, that still remains unclear.
There is also relief in Madrid simultaneously. With Mbappe pushing to sign this summer, the Merengues will have their new marquee forward for the 2023-24 campaign and will save the signing-on bonus that would be expected had he joined next summer.
One hopes that the coming days will be decisive in Mbappe’s future. With the player taking a firm stance, this could finally mean the end of a seemingly endless saga.
